Dave Wade

Artist Statement / Bio

Dave Wade is a photographer who before moving to Portland in 1997 spent over 12 years in Tokyo photographing for Forbes and various business and travel magazines.

Wade’s photos were selected to appear in the Portland Museum of Arts 2000 Biennial, and the Maine Coast Artists Photographing Maine exhibit in 2001. His photos have been exhibited internationally, and locally at various local galleries including Gallery At The Clown, Radiant Light Gallery, Susan Maasch Fine Arts, and the Addison Woolley Gallery, where a show of his work will be exhibited in May 2010.

Wade is the photographer of two books, The World of Louise May Alcott (Harper Collins), and The World of the Trapp Family (Anderson Publishing) which celebrates the lives of the famous family who inspired “The Sound of Music “,and now currently in its 10 printing.

He was a contributing photographer for the recent book “Portland Through The Lens” (Warren Machine) which featured his cover photo. Wade is currently at work completing a long term project, a book of his black and white photographs documenting Portland’s Working Waterfront. His photography also appears in the 2009 and the current 2010 Portland Police Poetry Calendar..

Wade is a regular exhibitor with the Addison Woolley Gallery. His most recent exhibition, titled “Heart Of The City”, is a show of photos of Portland, running from March 26-May 14th, 2010 at the Portland Arts & Cultural Alliance, 549 Congress St., Portland, ME.
